 (Objectives)

1. To teach students how to understand and appreciate British and American literature from diverse cultural, historical, and linguistic perspectives
2. To challenge students to master the English language and use it freely to enhance their general education
3. To prepare students for successful lives and careers through training in analytical skills and up-to-date knowledge
4. To encourage students to make healthy personal decisions as well as cultivate their awareness of social justice and the need for human compassion
